La Dolce Vita: An Amalfi Coast-Inspired Summer Party in Austin
For one summer afternoon, Austin felt a little more like the Italian coast.
Planned by Poppy Planning and held at the historic Springdale Station, this Amalfi Coast-inspired event leaned all the way into the feeling of an Italian summer: bright citrus, breezy color, beautiful food, playful details, and experiences tucked throughout the space for guests to discover.
And naturally, there had to be cannoli.
The Cupcake Bar joined the celebration with our Roaming Cannoli service, bringing freshly-filled cannoli directly to guests as they mingled throughout the event.
From lemons hanging overhead to sunny yellow draping, striped linens, woven details and even a Vespa, every corner of this summertime celebration transported guests straight to Italy.
Bringing the Amalfi Coast to Austin
The transformation of Springdale Station was incredible.
Outside, the space was filled with saturated yellows, soft pinks, leafy greens, and Mediterranean-inspired patterns. Draped yellow fabric created shaded lounge areas beneath woven pendant lights, while striped umbrellas and rattan furniture gave the entire setting that relaxed, sun-soaked vacation feeling.
Lemons were everywhere, in the best possible way.
They spilled across tables in sculptural centerpieces, appeared in the stationery and patterns, hung playfully among the greenery, and even filled baskets on a white Vespa. Long tables were dressed in green-and-white striped linens with warm wood and woven textures layered throughout.
It felt less like a themed event and more like stepping into someone’s very chic Italian summer.
Our team carried freshly-filled cannoli straight to guests in custom trays designed to fit this Amalfi Coast-inspired celebration, complete with color-coordinated toppings for the perfect finishing touch.
Cannoli, Served Roaming
Rather than asking guests to leave the conversation and visit a traditional dessert table, our team brought the dessert to them.
Our servers wore coordinating sage green dresses and carried custom roaming trays designed specifically for the event. Each tray held cannoli shells, filling, and toppings, allowing the team to finish and serve each cannolo as they moved through the crowd.
Guests could choose their toppings, including mini chocolate chips, pistachios, and colorful sprinkles, before receiving their cannoli directly from the tray.
It was interactive without interrupting the flow of the party. And in a setting built around discovery and experience, that mattered.
The custom tray design also became part of the décor itself, with lemon illustrations, Italian-inspired typography, colorful stamp artwork, and bright yellow accents that tied directly into the larger visual story.

Ask About Roaming CannoliThe best events give guests something to discover, from tattoos to roaming cannoli to photo moments and playful tablescapes. We love when dessert becomes part of the experience, not just something waiting at the end of the night. ✨
More Than a Beautiful Setting
One of the things we loved most about this event was how much there was to do.
Guests weren’t simply arriving, sitting down, and having dinner. The environment encouraged them to wander.
There were lounge areas made for lingering, tattoo moments, watercolor painting, beautifully styled dining areas, and live entertainment indoors as the celebration continued.
Even the smaller details felt intentional, from striped pillows and floral installations to the retro Vespa and glowing Poppy Planning signage.
Later, the energy shifted indoors with a full live band, turning the leisurely Italian-afternoon atmosphere into an evening celebration.
That mix is what made the event feel so memorable: beautiful enough to photograph, but interactive enough to actually experience…no passport required!
Our roaming cannoli service brings the dessert directly to your guests, where each one can be finished with a little disco dust and served on the spot!
Why Roaming Dessert Works So Well for Experiential Events
For events like this, food can be more than something served between scheduled moments. It can become one of the moments.
Roaming service works especially well when guests are already moving between activities, installations, lounges, and entertainment. Instead of creating another destination they have to seek out, the experience finds them.
It also gives planners another opportunity to carry a concept through to the smallest details. The tray, server wardrobe, presentation, toppings, napkins, and service style can all reinforce the look and feel of the event.
For this celebration, cannoli felt especially fitting.
A little Italian, a little indulgent, and perfectly suited to an Austin summer party pretending, very convincingly, to be somewhere along the Amalfi Coast.
