A Sweet Surprise at Neka & Zach's Wedding at The Grand Lady in Austin

Neka and Zach stepped in to surprise her dad with his favorite dessert, cannoli, before handing the reins back to us. 🤍

Our favorite wedding details are the ones that tell a story.

For Neka and Zach, that story started with cannoli: a nod to family, heritage, and one very sweet surprise.

Their March wedding at The Grand Lady near Austin was everything you'd hope for — joyful, beautiful, full of the kind of energy that makes a room feel alive. The team at Plan on It Events and Design brought every detail together beautifully, and the whole evening just felt right. And Ruét Photo captured the magic perfectly. ✨

But the part we keep coming back to? The moment Neka and Zach stepped behind our Roaming Cannoli trays to surprise her dad with his favorite dessert, turning a sweet wedding service into an even sweeter family memory.

A Little Backstory

When Neka and Zach were choosing their wedding dessert, they weren't just thinking about their guests. They had a surprise in mind — specifically for her dad, who's Italian, and who has never once turned down a cannoli.

So before our team started moving through the reception, Neka and Zach stepped in. They took the trays themselves, found her dad, and handed him the very first cannoli of the night.

We were standing right there, and honestly, it was one of those moments. The kind where you feel a little lucky just to have witnessed it. He lit up. She beamed. It was tender and funny and completely them.

That's what Austin weddings are really about, isn't it? Yes, the flowers and the food and the dancing are important. But underneath all of it, it's about the people. The ones who shaped you, who showed up, who you want to honor on a day like this.

After the surprise, Neka and Zach handed the tray back and let us take it from there. We spent the rest of the evening weaving through the reception, and guests were happy — the kind of happy that's contagious.

What our Roaming Cannoli Service Actually Looks Like

Our Roaming Cannoli service brings dessert into the middle of the celebration — no buffet table to drift toward, no stepping away from the dance floor. We come to your guests with fresh cannoli and all the toppings, and it creates this little pocket of joy wherever we go.

It's become one of the more unexpected hits at Austin weddings, because it doesn't feel like a dessert station. Instead, it feels like part of the party. Guests don't have to think about it. It finds them.

Nights like Neka and Zach's are why we do what we do. The cannoli was delicious — but what made it unforgettable was the moment wrapped around it. That's the thing about bringing dessert directly into the celebration: it doesn't just feed people, it creates space for memories like this one.

Neka's dad got a cannoli. But really, he got a moment made just for him, by his daughter and her new husband, on one of the most important nights of their lives.
